Canvas for a CURE
Our team at Paint Love is dedicated to using art to make a positive impact on youth. When we hear stories of how others are doing the same, we want to share them! Read from our guest blogger, and St. Bonaventure University student, Stephanie Dolliver about how a group of students enriched the lives of children with art!
"Canvas for a CURE was designed by St. Bonaventure University ENACTUS students to help children living with cancer or chronic blood disorders and their families. CURE Childhood Cancer Association is based in Rochester, NY. It supports these families with social, emotional, financial and educational support. We created an event not only to benefit CURE but also to directly benefit the kids. That is where we came up with the idea of painting canvases. Through this project idea we were able to have the local community actively participate in an activity that could not only raise money for CURE but also create a product that we could gift to the children to brighten not only their hospital rooms but also their day! Our main goal was to raise $2,000 and create 100 canvases. We raised $4,000 and created over 140 canvases. Most of the hours put into the event were spent during the planning. For two months we organized donors, suppliers, a fundraising table at a festival, a venue, volunteers and marketing to the local community. With all the planning we were able to not only achieve our goals but to exceed them, giving hope and support to families in the process. Together, we painted a difference!"
Congratulations to Stephanie and her peers for painting a difference in the lives of youth! If you would like to learn more about CURE you can visit curekidscancer.com.
