A Few Past Projects
Reflective Journaling Residency with Fifth Ave. Upper Elementary
Supported by Zara’s Fund Arts Integration Grants through the Decatur Education Foundation, Paint Love worked with artist Meta Gary to create a four-week, multi-media journaling project learning about being an observer, an explorer, a documentarian, and an empathetic community member.
Brumby Elementary Mural
Based on the NFT character Aku from artist Micah Johnson, 1,000 K-5 students at Brumby worked with Paint Love for over a month to “plant” their dreams in this cosmic garden on a huge 1,000 square foot wall and then work with local muralist Muhammad Yungai on the Aku character on the upper wall.
Textile Arts + Sustainability Residency with Talley Street Upper Elementary
Supported by Zara’s Fund Arts Integration Grants through the Decatur Education Foundation, third-graders at Talley Street worked with local fiber and textile artists to learn to weave with the help of donated fabric from re:loom and their own custom-made looms from Decatur Makers!
Abstract Portraits Celebrating Identity
Artist Maria Korol led youth at New American Pathways in creating abstract portraits on wood panels. Individually, the pieces are special and unique, but when displayed together, they showcase the incredible diversity of the Clarkson community.
CHOA Scottish Rite Mural
Designer Russell Shaw designed a creative, playful mural brainstormed and brought to life by imaginative pediatric patients.
Austell Learning Garden
Artist Meta Gary (through the Creative’s Project) worked with students over an entire semester at Brockett Elementary to design and bring to life an extraordinary outdoor classroom and learning garden.
Outdoor Mudcloth Mural
Artist + Clarkdale parent Brent Coleman led 800 students at Clarkdale Elementary School in an enormous 200-foot mural on the school’s retaining wall. Our projects strengthen community identity and we make sure that our projects are accessible, so every student in the school was able to participate!

When they set their balloons down to dry, we loved seeing the kids’ colorful creations all around the room. The project was such a creative way to foster self-love in the campers. The hot air balloons remind us that positivity lifts us up while negativity drags us down.

Projects that span collaboratively across grades allow students to interact with older and younger kids they might not ordinarily get to work with.
Gratitude Journals
Projects focused on thankfulness can have a particularly positive impact on young people like the kids we serve, by wiring their brains to always be on the look out for things that are good.
Pass It On Roses + Papermaking
With scraps of colorful construction paper, kids at the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy and Clarkston Community Center created their own handmade paper circles. On the pieces of paper, kids were invited to write, draw, or just whisper, something they wanted to let go of. Artist: Ellen Gadberry

Animal Strength Busts
Sculptor Nikita Raper led kids at Georgia Center for Child Advocacy to make clay animal busts, inspired by their inner animal-themed strengths. Nikita is a social work graduate student who brings her studies with art therapy and a trauma-informed approach to her incredible projects with kids who've experienced abuse.
Self Portrait Quilt
Janice McClean led kids from Camp Peace with the Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence to create this incredible collaborative self-portrait quilt!
Movement and Art with Our House
Artists worked with preschoolers experiencing homelessness at Out House over the summer. Lauren Phillips led a puppet show project, and Mandy Goodwin led a sewing focused on friendship.project Each project had a SEL component and time for movement too!
