I WANT TO HELP!

THE PROJECT:

Artists and volunteers will be working with the summer camp held at Clarkston Community Center. STEAM Plus Camp is for students ages 6- 14. The goal of the camp is to improve literacy and boost confidence amongst low-income students, refugees and immigrants and native Georgians. Eco-artist, Ellen Gadberry will lead her second week in a row at Clarkston, for the last session of the summer!

THE ORGANIZATION:

As a gathering place for art, education, recreation and community building, the Clarkston Community Center works to meet the many needs that are related to the city’s demographics, density, and low-income status. Through a strategic focus on community building, Clarkston Community Center programming works to bring together refugee and non-refugee populations. The Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that is a reflection of the community around it: diverse, supportive, and strong. Aiding a population that represents over 150 different ethnic groups, has over 50 different countries of origin, and speaks over 60 different languages, the center does its best to address the many assorted needs of the community.
