We are holding a residency with 4 professional artists at Fifth Avenue Upper Elementary School. Artists will teach 5th-grade classes and lead place-based discussions while guiding students as they fill creative journals. Since students are graduating and ending their elementary school experiences, this residency aims to create a snapshot of time. We will be discussing deeper themes of social justice, physical space, community, inclusion, and unique differences. In the end, students will have the option of sharing their creative journals in an exhibition to celebrate the end of an era.
