CURRENT NEEDS:
- Volunteers to assist lead artists
THE PROJECT:
Two of our Paint Love artists, Margaret Crane and William Massey are teaming up with the non-profit organization Lazarus to create an art booth for Lazarus' Health Day - a free community health day that primarily serves Atlanta's homeless population. To help support this event, we are opening up a call for any volunteers that may be interested. They will be using a portrait creating technique that JoeKingATL first introduced to us at our Foster Family event last year. This event is fully run by Lazarus and is not a "Paint Love" event. Volunteers who sign up will be contacted directly by Lazarus Atlanta Director, Benjamin Parks.
A little more about the project from Lazarus's website: "Our 10th Annual Lazarus Health Day will be Sunday, September 18, from 2-6pm in the Urban Garden at Atlanta Mission and it's going to be the best yet! If we've learned anything in the decade we've been holding this event, it's that we need your help to make it a success."
THE ORGANIZATION:
Founded in 2000, Lazarus is an Atlanta-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has recently expanded to Washington, D.C.
From their website: "We believe in kinship, a concept that is rooted in mutual connection and responsibility for one another. We are committed to being present with the marginalized, restoring dignity within the context of relationship. We promote the fostering of relationships to transcend social and economic divides. We do this because, whether serving or being served, when we choose to be with those at the margins we are all changed in meaningful ways. We have seen from experience that it is in relationship that our physical, emotional, and spiritual needs are met."
