In My Heart: A Book of Feelings
by Jo Witek
Start with some movement
Make sure you try the other side, too! Is one side easier than the other?
Can you strike a totally unique pose that you made up? What do you call your pose? Let me see if I can do it too!
No-Sew Felt Hearts
Supplies
Variety of felt or fabric pieces
sequins, buttons, ribbon, or other embellishment
glue
Polly-fill (or other filler, newspaper or cotton balls would work)
Directions
Cut out two hearts of the same size and shape from two pieces of felt or fabric
Put glue around the edges of one piece, leaving a 2-3 inch gap with no glue, and then press both pieces together.
Once the glue is dry, carefully turn the heart inside out, so the glue creates a seam on the inside
Decorate your heart any way you want!
Discussion
Do you know what unique means? It means special because it is different than anything else. How is the heart you made unique? Tell me why the pieces you used are special.
What are three ways you are unique? Have some positive examples ready to help kids out if they get stuck- be specific. (You always make me laugh, you are so thoughtful taking care of your little brother, etc.)
