Project Recap: KIPP Atlanta Collegiate High School
THE ORGANIZATION
On Saturday May 2nd, Paint Love was up and at em’ serving the high school students of KIPP Atlanta Collegiate High School. KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools are a network of open enrollment, college prep charter schools in Atlanta dedicated to preparing students in under-served communities for success in college and life.
THE PROJECT
The event was let by Brina Hargro, Visual Arts Teacher at KIPP AC. During the final four weeks of the school year, students are painting 300 small square canvas panels, which will be a gift to the students of KIPP STRIVE Primary.
Through this project, the high school students are learning about color theory and different painting techniques. During the event on May 2nd, ten students participated 8am-12pm and completed approximately 60 panels.
Each completed panel features a favorite object chosen by a child at KIPP STRIVE Primary painted in their favorite color. The high school Students also include a short encouraging message with each panel. The students will present the panels to the primary school students at a subsequent event during the final week of school.
