The Importance of The Arts
This is a special guest post by Paint Love Summer Intern & GSU student, Victoria Allen.
Is the term artist reserved for a select few?
According to Google art is,"The expression or application of human creative skill and imagination". Frequently we hear someone say "I'M NOT THAT CREATIVE", or "ART ISN'T MY FORTE". However, that statement is only a mind-state; An artist isn't someone that has been making masterpieces since birth! Creativity lies within all of us, it roams free while we express ourselves, that is what qualifies us to be an artist. Art is especially vital for youth because it allows them to find a way to express themselves that may not have been present previously.
Paint Love strives for one objective; spreading love through the use of art.
During Paint Love's workshops, we have been able to experience exactly how arts positively effect youth ranging from elementary to young adults. Connecting non-profits in the community with artists and youth in need, creates a relationship that did not exist otherwise. Youth that have undergone hardships at such a young age deserve moments of peace and reflection. Whether the art project reflects things they have endured or simply a spontaneous piece, the outcome pride and self assurance is worth the work. Art is not only considered a reflection of historical events worldwide but individual meditation, it's like a mirror we spill our souls into. That is why art is so important in our community.
