Victoria Allen's Internship Experience
This is a special guest post by Paint Love Summer Intern & GSU student, Victoria Allen.
Time seems to pass all too quickly for this twenty year old college student. Even with a bright future, the cold grips of uncertainty held me while I walked into Georgia State's internship fair. I recently discovered a love for art and gained an appreciation for its gift of expression, but also wanted to learn the business side of running a non-profit. The odds seemed to be in my favor, right before rushing to class I stopped by a warm, colorful stand entitled Paint Love. I met with the founder Julie and applied that night to the Marketing Intern position. A few weeks later I was a step closer to my dreams, when I received a call that I got the position and would be working along side the Paint Love staff as well as Event Planning intern Hannah Burton.
During this summer, I was able to work with various non profits along with incredible artists and volunteers from all around Atlanta. Julie also connected Hannah and I, with people working in the fields we are interested. Although the summer is ending, bringing a close to our internship, new beginnings are coming with a Paint Love GSU. Along with many ambitious students we are striving to spread Paint Love on campus and share the love!!!
Paint Love took me in with open arms, allowing me to apply my skill sets, while also teaching me things I never thought to inquire about. I gained incredible mentors that encouraged me to continue creating my own brand. This was my first internship but felt like so much more.
